The Tankwa Karoo is only 2,5 hour’s drive from Franschhoek and guests will experience the Succulent Karoo Biome where one can find rare plant species, rich endemic birdlife and rocky landscapes in comfortable four star accommodation. The safaris start in Franschhoek and will be moving along the scenic Hex River Valley and Bainskloof pass. Travellers can expect to see a number of plant species and mammals including Cheetah, Lion, Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Giraffes and many more.

3) BUSHMAN SAFARI (OVERNIGHT)
This is a safari that will take us to the untouched wilderness area south of the magnificent Cederberg mountains, three hours from Franschhoek in the Tankwa Karoo semi desert. The area is well known for its scenic beauty and bizarre rock formations typical of the Cederberg and has a rich cultural heritage with hundreds of Bushman/San rock paintings or rock art of up to 6000 years old and it is a unique experience in the Western Cape. Visitors will experience a San Cultural Tour and can appreciate the ancient Bushman living sites at first hand and get an in-depth interpretation of the rock paintings from one of the reserves’ expert field guides. Accommodation at the luxurious game lodge are nestled between unbelievable sandstone formations and resembles bushman “caves” and cottages, all with en-suite bathrooms. The area is also known for its fossil rich earth and wildlife such as Springbok, Eland, Gemsbok, Zebra and Hartebeest. In spring the mountains turns into a floral splendour and visitors will experience this rarity of Africa on safari, surrounded by romantic red sunsets and succulent plant species of this great thirst land.
